Living field map — themes around Ibogaine and the Bicameral Mind

LAST REVIEWED 2026-09-22 · LIVING REFERENCE · CORRECTIONS WELCOME

IbogaBase is building a living public map of sources and claim grades around themes that also appear in 2026 monograph and podcast discourse — including Jonathan Dickinson’s Ibogaine and the Bicameral Mind (Park Street Press, 2026). This page is a field map, not a substitute for medical care, not a clinic brochure, and not a chapter-by-chapter reprint.

What is Ibogaine and the Bicameral Mind about (high level)?

Public bibliographic and media discourse presents the book as a monograph connecting ibogaine experience narratives with Julian Jaynes’s bicameral-mind hypothesis and related cultural, clinical, and scientific themes. IbogaBase does not reprint chapters. For the theory claim grade, see Bicameral mind theory claim check.

How does IbogaBase relate to the book’s themes?

As a living citation map / field companion: denser public sources where we have them, open corrections, evidence grades, and explicit “what is not proven.” Until named reviewers and Jev maturity gates are met, IbogaBase does not publicly claim to be “more informative than” the monograph.

Scope box

What we map: plant, alkaloid, metabolite/analogs, culture/stewardship, conservation, OUD/PTSD/TBI/Parkinson’s, neuropathic pain and MS gaps, cardiac safety, policy/FDA, clinic-claim observatory, listening shelf.

What we don’t: dosing, buy lists, ceremony instructions, or culture-war “book wrong/right” framing.

Where can I find primary sources vs media interviews?

Peer-reviewed and regulatory lanes live under Evidence, Safety, Policy, and the public search index. Podcasts and book promo interviews live in the Listening Library with media labels. Dickinson-related outbound rows (McKenna Academy / Brainforest, Awake.net, Third Wave, and clinic-proximate interviews) are link-out only.

What does IbogaBase refuse to do that marketing and some media do?

What is still thin or missing vs the monograph narrative?

Named medical and cultural reviewers are still pending (honest gate for Jev 3.5+ claims). Mortality-denominator explainer, phenomenology desk, and deeper conservation tracker remain on the action list. Neuropathic pain and MS pages exist but stay thin until more primary citations are queued.

Evidence honesty module

Most human literature language concerns ibogaine, often observational or open-label. Veteran media percentages should be paired with primary papers and design limits on evidence pages — not treated as proof.

Integrity module

Last-reviewed dates appear on pages. Corrections: Changes / review log. Named external reviewers: recruitment pending; consent required before public listing.
